Medical Administration Jobs

People in medical administration jobs are responsible for staffing, scheduling, record-keeping, accounting, maintenance of necessary supply levels, and other operational details essential to the successful functioning of hospitals, clinics, doctors’ offices, and other medical facilities.

Some examples of medical administration jobs include medical records administrators, who ensure that patient records are correctly maintained and updated, pharmacy directors, who supervise pharmaceutical staff members, address patient concerns, and ensure that appropriate amounts of pharmaceutical materials are kept on hand, and public health administrators, who work with public clinics to develop community wellness programs, provide medical care and treatment to individuals in difficult circumstances, and distribute information and build public awareness about potential health hazards.

Medical administration jobs typically require at least an associate’s degree in a related medical discipline for entry-level positions, but may call for an advanced degree for positions of greater responsibility.  People in these roles typically work in hospitals and clinics, working directly with staff and patients in order to direct operations and maintain appropriate standards and practices.  Other medical administration jobs may be located in the headquarters of public health agencies, where medical policies and regulations are developed to promote wellness and ensure effective treatment for medical conditions.
